Claudia Arozqueta

Claudia Arozqueta is an interdisciplinary historian, curator, and writer. She investigates energies and vital signs as a way of thinking art, the body and its relationship with science, nature, and technology.
She is the author of Heartbeat Art (MIT Press, 2025). Since 2006, her writing has appeared in catalogues, books and journals, including Artforum, e-flux Criticism, Leonardo, etc.
Arozqueta holds a PhD in Art History and Theory from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Previously, she earned a MA in Media Art Histories from Donau-Universität Krems in Austria; and a BA in History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
From 2011-2013, she was Director of Enjoy Public Art Gallery in Wellington, New Zealand, where she curated over a dozen exhibitions interconnecting local and international artists. As an independent curator, she has organized various exhibitions for international organizations and festivals, including Blue Star Museum, San Antonio, USA; National Centre for Contemporary Arts, Moscow; XYZ Collective, Tokyo; Artspace, Auckland; TCB artinc, Melbourne; etc.
In 2014, Arozqueta founded Modelab, a nomadic artistic initiative exploring public space, ecologies and experimental historical narratives, with recent projects at Les Traversées du Marais Festival, Paris; Taipei Artist Village, Taipei; Manila Biennale, Philippines; etc.
Arozqueta has been a curator and writer-in-residence at Fogo Island Arts, Newfoundland (2025); Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Montréal (2023); Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2019); Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei (2019); etc. She is a fellow of the National System of Art Creators (SNCA) in Mexico.
Arozqueta has lived and worked in Mexico, Russia, New Zealand, and Australia.
